The Coos Forest Protective Association is a non-profit corporation that provides protection to industrial members and, under an agreement with the Oregon State Forestor, also provides protection to state, federal, and other lands. CFPA regulations are in effect for the Sixes area during fire season.

The Oregon State Fire Marshall has fire safety information, a fire safety curriculum for use in grades K-5, and features a Chemical of the Month.

Numerous sites have fire safety information for children. FEMA has an extensive and fun site and don't forget to visit the NFPA's Sparky the Fire Dog.
